Discovering Ancestral Tourism
In 2021, I completed my Master’s degree in Tourism at Aalborg University in Copenhagen. My thesis on ancestral tourism in Lithuania took me on a six-month journey with eight groups of travelers who came searching for their origins. I observed their emotions, discoveries, and transformations — how standing in their ancestors’ villages or visiting old family homes changed the way they saw themselves. That experience taught me how meaningful and healing ancestral travel can be when it’s done with care and understanding.
Today, I organize and lead ancestral trips in cooperation with the Lithuanian travel agency Mūsų Odisėja As a certified tour guide and tour leader, my goal is to create journeys that go beyond sightseeing — trips that connect you with your family’s story and the land that holds it.
